Four years of Artown Festival. Hundreds of murals and countless urban interventions. A street archive that, starting this year, evolves into a new format: the Urban Art Annual – Artown NOW. An independent extension carrying the same challenge, now amplified: reshaping Romania’s urban fabric through street art and, at the same time, cultivating an ARTIVISM movement that firmly legitimizes urban art’s presence in the country.

A necessary manifesto that helps communities reclaim public space while encouraging natural interaction with the urban organism. A clear statement that street art is not just urban decor or vandalism, but a legitimate and relevant artistic discourse.

Artown NOW explores and maps the transition of urban art – from the artists’ need for authentic expression to a crucial new phase of recognition. It reflects the paradox of this creative labor, opens an essential dialogue on the role of street art in today’s cultural landscape, and reaffirms its place as a legitimate form of artistic expression, not just an ephemeral gesture.
