About the festival
BUMP Festival, Calgary’s premier urban art initiative, began in 2017 as the Beltline Urban Murals Project and has grown into a city-wide celebration of public art. The festival transforms neighborhoods with murals, graffiti, and innovative installations, highlighting local, national, and international artists while fostering community engagement and cultural dialogue.
Each year, a diverse jury selects artists to create new works, weaving narratives of place, identity, and creativity into Calgary’s public spaces. Beyond murals, BUMP hosts workshops, guided tours, an Urban Arts Conference, and community events, emphasizing participation, education, and artistic discourse.
With a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, BUMP positions public art as a catalyst for social connection, civic pride, and cultural transformation. By merging creativity with community, the festival reshapes Calgary’s urban environment into a vibrant, accessible, and inspiring canvas, proving the transformative power of art in everyday life.
