About the festival
Created in 2016, PALMA was conceived as an open invitation for residents and visitors of the city to be surprised by artistic creation in their daily lives. The invited artists, coming from diverse disciplines such as urban planning, sociology, music, ethnography, architecture, painting, photography, and botany, observe and interpret public space to fuel their creativity and inscribe original works within it.
PALMA unfolds as a multi-disciplinary journey across Caen and its surrounding area. Its program includes concerts, exhibitions, workshops, guided walks, and opportunities for the public to take part in the making of artistic projects. By bringing art directly into shared spaces, the festival seeks to reshape everyday perception of the city, offering moments of encounter, dialogue, and imagination.
Through this approach, PALMA positions itself as both a cultural and civic experience — where art is not only seen, but lived.
