Yodokabe Festival

Yodokabe Festival is a non-profit project led by artist BAKIBAKI, based in Yodogawa Ward, in collaboration with the mural production company WALLSHARE. The initiative began in March 2021, when BAKIBAKI painted a mural portrait of Florence Nightingale under the theme “Respect for Medical Professionals” during the height of the pandemic.

Later that year, BAKIBAKI launched Yodo Wall, a long-term project to establish permanent murals across the Yodogawa area, centered in Juso, with contributions from both Japanese and international artists.

Framed around themes of community-led revitalization, international cultural exchange ahead of the 2025 Osaka Expo, and raising recognition of mural culture in Japan, the project is steadily working toward its ambitious goal of 30 murals.
